The main attraction is without a doubt the old quarter or "Centro Storico" as it is signposted throughout the rest of the city. You will probably have seen its splendour from a distance as you travelled toward the city from the motorway, even at night it is illuminated with floodlights bouncing off the white walls and buildings.

The stone built church at its centre and summit was built in 13th and 14th centuries and is dedicated to the "Madonna of the Assumption". The area has probably changed little since medieval times with sloping, stone or cobbled surfaces (watch out if they are wet as they be very slippery) so sensible shoes are a must. Fantastic vistas are round every corner as you glimpse out across the local olive groves toward the perfect blue sea. You can also walk along the walls, see the defensive towers and original gateways.
